All About Me
Hi my name is Kiersten Yuhas, I am 18 years old and are from Frederick, Maryland. My parents names are Keith and Melinda and I have 2 brothers named Aj (16) and Ty(12). I am currently a freshmen here at Longwood and on the Women’s Soccer Team. I am an outgoing social person and for as long as I can remember I have always played sports. Sports have always been the one thing that makes me the most happy. Whether it’s playing sports, watching sports or being around other people who play sports I have always tried to surround myself with others who are serious about athletics. In middle school I sustained a life changing injury in which questioned my ability to ever play soccer at a competitive level. I was having serious back pain so I went to get x-rays and found out I had fractured my spine, and had Spondylolisthesis. This injury caused me to be in and out of rehab for years and I was told I was never going to be able to play contact sports again. In high school the same condition started to really bother me again and I began to have shooting pains all throughout my legs and back, I then went back to the PT and found out that I would be able to return to sports only if I was able to stay strong and able to deal with the pains. I decided to keep playing and eventually the pains went away. throughout High school and now college I would go to the Athletic Trainers for exercises and treatment.
Ever since High school I have always wanted to be an Athletic Trainer, even after I am done with sports I want to continue to be around athletes and help them. This is why the Kinesiology program and field is perfect for me. Through this major I am able to do the 2 things I love most: Helping people and being around athletics. Longwood is the right place for me for complete this program because being a student athlete at here I am given opportunities to ask the Athletic staff for advice and possible even get an internship here. By going into the Kins field I am able to help people of all ages by providing them with healthy options and exercises in order for them to get healthy and strong.
