Expertise

I currently work in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Longwood University, where I am developing my research and management skills. I am also using my knowledge of Microsoft word as well as public speaking in my work.

Relevant classes:

-Introduction to communication theory: This was the first class that I took that was a part of my Communication Studies major. it is the most relevant because it gave me the most insight on what the major entailed. At the end of this class I knew that I wanted to be a Communication Studies major for the rest of my college career.

-Introduction to media writing: Throughout this course I leaned the basics of how to write within or for the media. We studied how to construct a proper press release or news article, skills that I will surely use one day in the field of public relations.

-English 150: This class provided me with the most basic knowledge of how to write properly and effectively. The skills that I learned in this class have given me the ability to write well in any situation, weather that be in news articles or press releases.

-Introduction to public administration: The course gave me insight as to how to effectively lead a group. As we studied how government was managed, we learned how to form a leadership and management structure to best manage a group.

-Public speaking: This course helped me gain my confidence to stand up and present myself in front of other people. It also provided me with the knowledge of how to effectively communicate my ideas with an audience or a team.
