Study Abroad in Ireland: Nursing 495- Nursing Topics: A Nurse’s Role in Global Health
Nursing 495 met goal 9 of our general education course and was an honors course. This course was focused on the different types of health care around the world, as well as global health as a whole. We ventured to Ireland to learn specifically about their health care system. We learned about the difference between their private and public institutions. Learning the differences of health care systems around the world gave me the opportunity to gain more knowledge on what would be best for my future patients and America as a whole. The more I learned the more excited I was to make a change in our health care system in America. In this course I learned that knowledge is power.
When in Ireland I also learned a lot about the culture of the area. Speaking to the locals and touring the city helped me connect to their struggles and life related to their health care and wellness. We visited Dublin, the Wild Atlantic Way, Guinness factory, and the Cliffs of Moher. It was an unforgettable experience and trip and I can’t wait to bring back everything I have learned back to my life in the states.
