Teaching for Beginners

About Me

On May 2016 I graduated from Northern Virginia Community College with my Associate of Science degree majoring in Social Science with a specialization in Teacher Education.  When I was still at Northern Virginia Community College not only did I take a few education introductory courses, I also spent over forty hours shadowing and helping teachers at the local elementary school.  After completing my associate degree, I enrolled in Longwood University; during my time at Longwood I took many Education related classes such as a teacher education introductory course, classes that taught how to teach subjects such as Math, Science, English, and History.  I also took several psychology classes, mostly focusing on human growth and development.

Before I enrolled in Longwood, I used to spend my summers at a Girl Scout camp, doing volunteer work as a camp leader; I was a camp leader for five years.  During this time, I babysat and worked as a cashier at a small chain grocery store named Fresh Market until it closed.  I like when things are simple, though I like to think I can handle things should the situation become more complex; due to this my personal leadership philosophy reflects the “KISS” principle.  My personal leadership philosophy is to lead by example, remain calm and persistent, learn from my and other experiences, work hard, always be respectful, value competency, honor trust, and value communication.
