Welcome!

“Thank you for coming to this portion of the race. This portfolio is my journey. I chose the title, Laps Around the Professional Writing Track because this linguistic journey is a race like no other. Just as runners must push through while fatiguing when running laps around the track. A professional must overcome obstacles and embrace uncomfortable feelings.  While you jaunt through the wonderfully crafted pages of this webpage. I hope it may demonstrate my race to continually better myself and the commitment to lifelong learning. I am proud of the skills I was able to strengthen. I believe writing is like a muscle. Here are these laps.

The laps are symbolic of the ability to gain more professionalism and achieve excellence”

Professional Profile:

Dedicated worker with over nine years of experience in developing interpersonal relationships. Ability to demonstrate patience, resilience, and a great amount of effort in high-pressure situations. Successfully fostered a sense of belonging and a commitment to lifelong learning both in and out of the classroom setting. I have worked around children all my life, performing a variety of educational work that includes educating students in preschool to young adults in high school, being a community leader for students in afterschool programs. I have worked for Longwood University as a Resident Assistant and received the opportunity to serve as an advocate for students’ mental health. I completed my time as a Longwood Senior Mentor to students in their sophomore year. In this setting, I was allowed to demonstrate my organizational skills, planning, and classroom presence as I was able to curate some of the curricula for this class and lead multiple discussions. This knowledge will allow me to remain confident and strive for excellence while I learn from people in classroom settings and while in leadership roles. Project Success, which I completed at Longwood University, increased my knowledge of leadership, identity, professionalism, and how to effectively utilize them in my future aspirations. To prepare for the emotionally demanding tasks of Educational Leadership, I maintain a high level of mental health awareness by using mindfulness practices with set routines, I attend meetings as a recovery ally, and I practice a good exercise routine.

ePortfolio Purpose and Content:

This ePortfolio has been created as my final exam for English 470, Professional Writing Skills. The tabs at the heading of the page takes you to various assignments from this class. Each page is paired with a reflection paragraph in which I reflect on course outcomes accomplished, as well as course outcomes that require more attention. Class activities during English 470 have challenged me to embrace the format of professional writing while also using clear, concise, and effective communication. With a greater understanding of such context, I feel as though I have the power to advocate and be a citizen leader. This course has given me the skills and confidence to engage in conversations throughout the workplace.
