John Altemose Portfolio

I want to be a teacher in order to show both my students and others that health and physical education is vital to student’s learning and development. Health and Physical Education gets a bad reputation for being an unnecessary part of the curriculum and I want to change the perception around Health and Physical Education. My next reason is a continuation of my first reason, I want my students to learn. There is so much knowledge that I can pass down to my students that will last them a life time from teaching them how to live a healthy and nutritious life, to how to take care of their body, or even new games or activities that the students can build upon as they travel through life. An added benefit to being a teacher is that I want to be a high school football coach. I was born into a football family and football has helped me get to where I am in life. I want to build a successful football program where my players are not just growing as football players, but I want them to grow as a human being, I want them to recognize what hard work can do for them, and I want to push them to be the best that they can be both on and off the field. I want to see my students and players reach their maximum potential in life. I want to create an environment where students can grow and be comfortable expressing their goals in life and I want to help them to succeed in obtaining those goals.
