Foundations

At the Foundations Level, students engage in creative inquiry, cultivate curiosity, and develop foundational knowledge and skills.

It consists of two parts: first-year and pillars

Learning Outcomes:

  • Investigate foundations of citizenship (ethical reasoning, critical thought, and civil discourse)
  • Describe and analyze continuity and change in one or more cultures
  • Evaluate cultural norms, societal institutions, and implicit and explicit assumptions about themselves
  • Develop skills for global citizenship through study of world languages and cultures
  • Explore/ engage in creative and artistic expression
  • Analyze which quantitative reasoning and methods best address different types of questions and apply them to various problems in context
  • Use scientific reasoning to address a variety of questions in context
  • Analyze and use writing conventions appropriate to different audiences and identify personal strengths and weaknesses in writing
  • Analyze and use speaking conventions appropriate to different audiences and identify personal strengths and weaknesses in speaking
