ANTH 350 Students Conducting Field Work at Red Hill (Spring 2020)

The IoA has completed a variety of small research projects at Red Hill to support the organization’s efforts to identify and investigate archaeological resources on the property, and enrich their educational programming with holistic, multi-vocal narratives of Red Hill’s history.

In the spring of 2020, ISCAR project staff and students from the ANTH 350 course designed and executed an archaeological investigation of a small portion of the Red Hill property. Students gained  in-depth exposure to advanced archaeological practices by developing a research proposal, conducting pre-excavation and logistical planning, surveying and mapping with a GPS unit and total station, excavating test units, processing and analyzing collected artifacts, and producing a final site report.
