Welcome to my Professional Writing ePortfolio. This is where you can find my assignments from Professional Writing and a reflection of what I have learned under the conclusion page.

Profile

My name is Logan Hyde and I am a sophomore Communication Sciences and Disorders major. I plan to graduate with my Bachelor’s of Science from Longwood University in May 2024 and enter Graduate school for my Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology. I am a student athlete here at Longwood. I am a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, the National Society of Leadership and Success, Operation Smile, and National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. I have been interested in Speech-Language Pathology for a few years now. I completed many hours of shadowing my senior year of high school, and fell in love with the field because of the rewarding benefit of helping others. During the summer, I work at K.W. Morris, DDS, Ltd as a secretary. Working as a secretary has given me organizational skills, patience, and time management skills. I apply these skills to my every day school life.

ePortfolio Purpose and Content

This ePorfolio contains my assignments from my English 470 Professional Writing class in Fall 2021. The Correspondence project, the first assignment, contains the Bad News Letter and the Persuasive Letter. In the Persuasive Letter, I had to propose a text asking for a favor or task to be done. After the Correspondence project, we completed the Brochure. Following the Brochure, we grouped up and completed the Press Release and finally, the Formal Report. My team wrote a field guide to Speech-Language Pathology for the Formal Report final.

The activities from this class have heavily influenced the way I write, and built professional skills. The course assignments have made me achieve the learning outcomes listed below. The individual assignments gave me the ability to communicate effectively orally and through writing, while the group projects have given me the skills to collaborate with others. I am now able to recognize professional and effective ways to write and communicate, and create texts that will be successful in the specific objective.
