Media and Democracy is a special topic honors course that I found very intriguing. I was not sure what exactly the course would be about or how it would be structured, but I was interested enough to find out. I am very happy I took this course, it taught me a lot about our political system and the media, while also teaching me how to research effectively and have an educated debate. I am very grateful for the lessons this course taught me and would recommend it to anybody interested in taking it.
I used this course to fulfill a perspective pillar requirement as well, where I used my final paper as my artifact from the class. I want to highlight another assignment that was to create a newspaper article about a topic of our choosing; I chose facebook’s position on free speech reform, because of all of the media attention this topic was getting at the time.
