Honors Music Appreciation
Fall 2018
Learning the inner workings of music, this course was exceptionally eye-opening in both everyday life in addition to my other classes. Learning about parts and the process of creating music, as well as breaking down larger pieces to their elemental pieces, I was able to better understand music and how relatively music has changed throughout centuries. In addition, learning about typography in Typography I, I was able to apply knowledge from Honors Music Appreciation when learning about rhythm, flow, and scale of type.
Ending the semester with a cumulative paper, found below, students were tasked with choosing a musical artist and connecting their musical style and creative process to our major and concentration. As a Graphic Design & Animation major with a concentration in Brand, Identity & Media Design, I chose to write about Karlheinz Stockhausen and his music in relation to the Atomic Age of Design during the 1940s and 1960s.
