In high school I took years of Spanish, I thought I was done.  I never liked learning a new language, English was hard enough.  I did not like the idea of having to do at least a semester of a foreign language in college.  But, my whole mindset changed once I came to college.  I placed into 201 so I only had to take one semester.  It was a greater different experience to deeper explore a culture and a language at a college level rather than a high school level.  There were opportunities for our class to speak with native speakers at the immigration center for extra credit.  At the time, I thought I was studying abroad in Spain the next summer so I enjoyed learning more about the culture.
