Welcome

My name is Justice Griffin and I am a graduating senior with a English Major and a Political Science Minor from Longwood University. This website displays every major project that I did in English 470 (Professional Writing Class).

I have participated in a English seminar. The essay presented the importance of deconstructing societal binaries according to Derrida’s Literary Critical Theory. I have also completed creative writing poems and presented “final experiences”with in my English classes in essays, presentations, and research. I have had internships with the Gilliam Law Group, Robert Russa Moton Museum, and the Chesterfield Food Bank. I am employed with Longwood’s Residential and Commuter Life Services. I have served as a resident assistant, Pi Mu chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. president, national society leader, and as a NPHC Vice President.

I firmly believe in the process of citizen leadership and the idea that leadership is a relationship process between leaders and followers. I believe a citizen leader is a individual that is willing to step into leadership roles to speak for those who are not able to speak up for themselves. My purpose included using my education to advocate for minority voices on campus. I aspire to be a lawyer in the future and thanks to my mentor, I was able to see that the law helps many people. So my goal is to take on pro bono case work and be a family lawyer to help others. This website displays transferable skills that I have learned and mastered after English 470. The following class outcomes include the ability to:

  1. Analyze and produce writing genres commonly found in the professional world
  2. Create professional documents that use plain English (clear, concise, and grammatically correct)
  3. Conduct research to create content for a variety of professional documents (memos, letters, reports, etc.)
  4. Create professional documents that uses design—standard formats, layout, use of graphics, etc.
  5. Practice oral communication skills to present content effectively (enhanced with multimedia tools);
  6. Participate productively in collaborative projects.

I plan to use these skills in any occupation, organization, or the class room.
