Going into the class I was very worried about how I would do in the class and what I would get out of the class. I was pleasantly surprised by how intriguing most of the conversations were in class. During the class, my professor challenged us to bring modern-day knowledge and relate it to the texts we read in class.
Below I have included one of the weekly discussion boards that allowed us to research topics about the books we were reading. During this week, we were reading The Aeneid by Virgil. I was assigned the topic Dido, the queen of Carthage. I learned about how she came to found the city of Carthage on the northern shores of Africa. In class, we talked about other women who have shown a lot of power. This showed everyone how far women have come since the ancient era of history.
