This class was about the basics of teaching mathematics in middle and high school classes. Most of the topics were based around middle school, but there were a lot of big-picture ideas that correlated to both. This class helped me develop knowledge about using manipulatives in the classroom. This gave me a lot to learn from because when I was learning the same topics, I never really used hands-on materials. The knowledge from the class helped me as a scholar so that I can explain topics in different ways to my future students.
The artifact below is one paper I wrote in the class. We were tasked with watching multiple videos recorded in different classrooms. We had to observe and then respond to what we would do the same and different in the classroom. This assignment brought together what I had learned throughout the semester so I could really think about what I would like to bring to my classroom. The videos also gave me situations that I could come across in the classroom.
