Service is not only community service that you do, but what you do to serve others when it’s not a manual labor service project. While community service is a big part of the Cormier Honors College, helping fellow students of the honors college or Longwood peers, in general, is a part of the service pillar.
I had trouble during my first semester helping out at service activities with honors because I had many soccer games that covered most of my weekends. But during second semester, I had fewer soccer games on the weekends, which allowed me to open up to possible service projects. One trip that I really enjoyed was going to Holiday Lake with three of my honor peers. We helped start to make a rerouted trail. It was a lot of fun, and I got to learn a lot about three of my honors colleagues that I haven’t talked to a lot.
