Reading, Literacy & Learning Graduate Program

Next on our graduate program spotlight is the Reading, Literacy & Learning Program!

RLL is a Master’s of Education program for teachers who want to expand their knowledge and skills in teaching literacy for grades PreK through 12.

The RLL program also has a Reading, Literacy & Learning professional endorsement for those teachers who have already received a Master’s degree and want to increase their skills and knowledge of literacy instruction.

The teachers who earn their Master’s or Endorsement in the RLL program will upgrade their knowledge and skills in teaching literacy. The RLL program offers practical experiences in preventing reading difficulties, teaching English language learners, and intermediate to middle school literacy instruction. The teachers can go on to become instructional specialists and literacy coaches, work in alternate support programs, and become teacher leaders.

Currently the program has 46 students pursing a Master’s degree, and 18 pursuing the Endorsement. There are 14 full-time and 12 part-time Master’s students, 6 students in Hanover county, 8 students in Bedford county, and 6 students in Colonial Heights. There are also 2 part-time endorsement students, 5 students in Hanover county, 6 students in Bedford county, and 5 students in Colonial Heights earning the endorsement.
