PHIL 315 – Biomedical Ethics

I took this as a summer class during 2019. This class was one of the class requirements for my nursing degree. This was my first online class at Longwood. I was worried at first because I was not sure how it would turn out or if it would be hard to do because it was solely online. The class turned out pretty easy and was very interesting. This class made me realize how much thought can go into medical decisions and the different ways and solutions that medical professionals go through to get to the best solution.

For the final paper, I wrote about how surrogates succeed in showing that love is a huge helping factor in the decision making process that a surrogate would have to make for an incompetent patient because they would not be able to do it themselves. Writing this paper was interesting to me because I learned about how someone thinks for another person and how they take into possibilities of how the incompetent patient would choose depending on who they are and what makes them, them. I found this fascinating and it’s changed my perspective on how I look at things.
