I took this class in the fall semester of 2018. This was my first history class at Longwood. I never excelled in my history classes in high school so I didn’t feel very prepared for this class. This class was about western civilization and I learned a lot in this class. There were topics I had learned about in high school but it went more in depth and I learned about the smallest things that you wouldn’t think to learn about parts of our history. This class was about the history of different western societies shaping the world.
One of our projects was a paper that was supposed to be written in Chicago style. I never heard of Chicago style until this class and I got nervous. The style was hard but with the help of my friend and my professor who looked over my rough draft, I felt better about it by the end. I wrote about the first human computers at Langley’s NASA during World War II and also the events that helped send a man to the moon.
