This ePortfolio began as a way to professionally solve problems in an organization. Its purpose grew into professional presentation. Although it’s not widely known, military officers are responsible for writing up many different topics, and those that fail to do so effectively run the risk of failing the person they’re writing for. The meaning of military communications can so easily get lost in overbearing vocabulary or a lack of clarity. As a Cadet and a hopeful future officer, I feel it is my responsibility to continue to study the aspects of technical writing. Additionally, the field of economics requires a clear voice and an engaging layout. I will apply the rhetoric, visual presentation, and communication skills I learned here towards a future career involving data analysis. Presenting content will is a tool some economists do not have. My future career paths demand that my writing skills transfer well.

Usability Report

The usability report tested my self confidence. The assignment’s intent was to test the communication effectiveness of your manual, but you could do that in many ways. Instead of testing individuals, I decided to hold a group usability test. The nature of ROTC communication requires an organized team behind it, if it is executed well. I had one variable: the medium of communication. It ran fairly well, and the feedback from my peers was used to revise the manual in detail later on. Given the wide array of how I could have executed that test, I feel that it went as smooth as it could go.
