In this portfolio I did a variety of different professional texts such as course journals, a Rhetorical Analysis, a Common Good Project, a Ted Style Talk, Resume, and Cover Letter. Which employed the learning outcomes of Engagement in the process of citizen leadership by investigating multiple perspectives on important public issues. Understanding the nature of public discourse/debate as determined by purpose, audience, and context. Choosing appropriate formats in writing for a variety of purposes. Analyzing the effectiveness of their own texts and processes for specific rhetorical situation. Understanding how the knowledge, skills, and values learned in general education are interwoven and interrelated, and how they can contribute to the process of citizen leadership. From class we learned how to create professional arguments by logos, pathos, and ethos as well as rhetoric, terministic screens, and the different fallacies. These assignments will help me be ready to write in a professional setting. I hope to become a great teacher to young students and writing and presenting public issues will help me grow in my confidence of explanations and arguments to others. As I learned Communication skills of writing concisely, speaking effectively, expressing ideas, facilitating group discussions, and providing appropriate feedback to others in this English 400 course.
