For my Citizen 110 class, I took Social Entrepreneurship with professor Dolence. Throughout the course, we were asked to think critically regarding societal issues and explore novel solutions to these problems. During the semester, I learned a lot about leadership, self-discipline, and empathy through project-based learning and TED talk activities in class. Ultimately, this course gave me a greater understanding of what it means to be a “citizen-leader.”
Furthermore, this course allowed me to learn about the process of conducting research, developing informed opinions, and presenting findings in multiple formats, such as through oral communication with teammates, mixed-media posters, and formal research papers. For our final project, my group explored standardized testing in K12 education and presented our findings in a poster at the Fall 2019 Symposium for Research and Creative Inquiry. The artifact included here is a picture of our presentation.
