The community pillar refers to the connections honors students build with each other. Through my freshman experience of living in Wheeler, the first-year honors dorm, and as a member of the Honors Student Association, I was fortunate to find friends and mentors that helped me succeed at Longwood during my first year. Later, I had the privilege of serving as an honors mentor for incoming freshman and as an executive board member of the Honors Student Association, allowing me to contribute meaningfully to this compassionate, supportive environment. To me, the honors community served both as a social outlet and a strong support network. It encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone, to grow as a leader, and to find my passions.
