During Spring 2020, I started training as a consultant (peer tutor) at Longwood’s Writing Center. Through our weekly readings and zoom-ins, I learned about a variety of tutoring methods and the fundamentals of writing center theory. Most importantly, I gained a greater understanding of interacting with people in a professional and friendly manner while helping them develop stronger writing skills. Ultimately, this experience is likely to help me navigate future interactions with clients as a speech-language pathologist and improve my sensitivity to the needs and feelings of people I work with.
