About me
Hello! I’m Alexa Fojtik, a Junior transfer student at Longwood University. I am an English major with a goal of becoming a Kindergarten teacher at a Montessori School. I have been super passionate about children for most of my life. I love their curiosity and the way they’re not afraid to make mistakes. I love the way their innocence allows them to love all people and not see the differences or stereotypes that we grow up to be influenced by. I think there’s so much to learn from teachers, as well as teach them. I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to help reinforce their love for all people and each other’s differences, as well as respect and care for nature and the environment. I am also passionate about expressing myself through writing, most specifically poetry, as well as art. I have spent 8 years in the world of ceramics and have recently been branching out to drawing and painting as well.
Purpose of ePortfolio
The purpose of my ePortfolio is to display what I have learned throughout this English 400 course. I will display my use and understanding of rhetorical strategies. The work I have completed during this course has better helped me understand the tactics used to discredit or credit not only myself, but the work of others as well. It has encouraged me to look deeper into what is being said and analyze whether pieces of writing and information being put out are trustworthy, manipulative or inaccurate. Throughout this English class, I have learned how to use my voice and my writing to better the world by looking deeper into the ways other people have used words to make a difference, as well through my own efforts in making change for our oceans and marine life.
