Community

There have been many ways that I have involved myself in the Longwood community during my time here. Firstly, I am a part of the math department with a secondary education concentration. I am also a part of the Cormier Honors College. For my first year at Longwood, I worked at the Dorrill Dining Hall. The next year, I started working as a desk aide in Frazer and South Ruffner. I continued to work as a desk aide for my remaining time at Longwood, switching to the Cox/Wheeler community. While being a part of so many different communities has been great, some of my favorite memories were made when I joined the Longwood Company of Belly Dance. At the company, I learned about the culture of belly dance. I learned that I was able to do things I never thought I would be able to do, and gained confidence from the many performances we had on stage. I even became a beginner coordinator for the company, teaching the newest members of the company traditional belly dance moves and choreographing their dance. All these different communities have helped shape who I am, and have made my time at Longwood one I will always remember.
