Service

The Cormier Honors College has allowed me to partake in various service opportunities around campus and around Farmville. During the Honors Retreat I worked with my group to help clean up downtown Farmville by picking up trash along sidewalks and along the nearby trail to protect people and the environment. Being a part of the Honors Student Association I have been given numerous service opportunities to help around campus and the community. I donated some supplies for children in need and gave markers and paper to make cards for faculty and others around the community.
Seeing and being a part of all these different service opportunities has really made me appreciate my community even more and realize how important it is for me to give back. The community does so much to support all the students of Longwood, so it is nice to have ample opportunities to give back for everything they have done. The Honors College is always giving back to Farmville and striving for change, and I am proud to be a small part of such a large, positive force.

In 2019 I have found another way to give back to the Honors community by becoming an e-portfolio mentor to help Honors students make a blog that encompasses the experiences they have had since coming to Longwood and format thoughtful reflections on the classes they have taken. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a e-portfolio mentor so far as I have been able to get closer to other Honors students and learn other useful skills, like leadership, that will be useful now and in the future.
