The Cormier Honors College helped me to find a new “family” of sorts as when I came to Longwood University I did not know anyone from my hometown who would also be attending the same college as myself. At the Honors Retreat I met a lot of wonderful people who would eventually become my closest friends, including my best friend who has been there for me since I stepped on campus. The Honors College really gave me a close-knit group of people who I could rely on for support and help in my classes. I decided to join the Honors Student Association after hearing so much about it on the retreat and I am really glad I did. HSA has allowed me to meet so many of my fellow honors members and work with them on activities around campus and around Farmville. The Honors College gave me the close knit community I needed when I arrived at Longwood as I was so scared and nervous to be away from home, but little did I know at the time that I was about to find my home away from home.
