Topic 3: Making a Change

Having read all about climate change, its effects, and professional ways to combat species endangerment, I wanted to provide a more practical way for people at home to help fight climate change. Although not everyone has the fancy tools and access to help species recovery through ART, you CAN help in other ways! Please read through this list and try and do at least one thing to better the environment and prevent climate change this week:

  • Voice your concerns to a friend, family member, or peer. Nothing will change if people aren’t informed!
  • Look into using renewable energy sources. Solar panels are a great source of electricity AND can help the environment. Although slightly more expensive, you have the ability to use them as a tax write off and you’ll feel good for doing the right thing.
  • Shop for energy-efficient appliances to put in your home. Usually they will be marked on the box!
  • Save water! By taking shorter showers or turning off the water while brushing your teeth, you can help to reduce carbon pollution.
  • Buy LED light bulbs. They save loads of energy AND they’re cheaper.
  • Unplug all appliances and cords that aren’t being used in the immediate moment.
  • Drive fuel efficient vehicles or carpool!
