Welcome to a discussion about breasts in American culture

Breasts sell cars, feed babies, need bras, provoke desire, engage us in public breastfeeding debates, and sometimes get in our way.  This blog grows from a class discussion in a rhetorical criticism class into student analyses of ideological implications inherent in various media texts’ display of breasts.

Each student listed on the right side menu examines their choice of text and articulates ideological features in operation on an audience.  We hope to suggest how study in the humanities can help us understand bodies.
