Reflection:
I created a formal report with the same people from my group that I worked with on my brochure and press release assignments. In this assignment, we acted as a commissioned consulting team that analyzed three hotel websites in order to recommend a website design for “Farmvegas Hotel.” We named our consulting team “MLB.” We worked together to create the formal report and thus met the course learning outcome of participating productively in collaborative products. I communicated with my group members and cooperatively wrote the various parts of the project. The Formal Report involved writing a letter of authorization, a letter of transmittal, and an executive summary. These three pieces support my success in the course learning outcome of producing writing genres commonly found in the professional world. All three pieces are examples of the business writing genre. Furthermore, this project exemplifies me achieving the course learning outcome of conducting research to create content for a variety of professional documents. The letter of transmittal and the letter of authorization are both professional letters while the report itself is a professional report. I created the logo for MLB. This demonstrated me accomplishing the course learning outcome of creating documents that use graphics. We also designed the entire formal report using design-standard format and layout. This also meets the same course learning outcome. I met the course learning outcome of using concise, clear, and grammatically correct language while writing the formal report. We also presented our analyses of the three hotel websites and our recommendations for the Farmvegas Hotel website. We presented it to the class while role-playing that we were MLB and the class was Farmvegas Hotel. This demonstrates the course learning outcome of practicing oral communication skills to present content effectively.
