My name is Devyn Alston and I am a student at Longwood University. I major in Communications with a concentration in Digital Media. I am expected to graduate in December 2019. I was born and raised in Virginia, but more specifically Charlottesville.
I chose Longwood because I liked the small school environment. Longwood also reminded me of Charlottesville because of the small community environment. Both of my parents are Longwood alums, so their positive experience was an impact in my decision.
Before Longwood I was volunteering and making different types of videos. I would always show any one that I could the video that I had made that day. I think I have made over one hundred videos total and spent countless hours editing. After doing this for almost two years, my friends and family were happy to hear I had decided to concentrate in digital media. Editing a video that I am proud of is what brings me joy.
Before I have the ability to go out into the “real world”, I am a part of an organization called Chi Alpha. Chi Alpha is a Christian organization across college campuses. I attend small groups and large meetings within this organization.
