Community

Freshman Year:

When  I think of the word community, I instantly think of Longwood University. Even when I went on my first tour of Longwood during my Junior year of high school, I felt a sense of community among every one at Longwood. I was very involved in clubs and the community in high school, so I knew coming into Longwood that I wanted to be the same way. In being in different clubs, I am able to have a large impact on the community. I joined the Cormier Honors College, Student Nursing Association, and Sigma Kappa Sorority. Through each of these clubs or organizations that I am involved in, I have seen the affect that I have had on the community. For example, through the Student Nursing Association, I donated hygiene products for a drive we were having for local people of Farmville. Things like this are so little and easy for me to do but make such a big difference for the community that it is touching. Below, I attached a picture of my friend and I at a MS Walk we had through the SNA. During this event, we walked to raise awareness for Multiple Sclerosis. It made my heart happy knowing that Longwood has given me such great opportunities to touch the community that I am now involved in.
