My name is McKenzie Crews, I am a senior at Longwood University studying Special Education. I am from Richmond, Virginia, and have lived there my whole life. I am currently on the track to graduate in December with my degree in Special Education. The reason I chose this major field is that I had the opportunity to work with public partnerships. Public Partnership is a program that allows you to work with individuals with disabilities. I was fortunate enough to be able to gain experience from the opportunity and gain a passion for working with individuals with disabilities. This job allowed me to find my passion and that is how I was able to choose the field that I decided to major in. I am looking forward to graduating and getting into the schools, I am very passionate about my major and can not wait to help individuals in need.

The purpose of my ePortfolio is to show individuals how I have gained knowledge in understanding certain content. I have been able to improve my language by using ethos, logos, and pathos when writing. I was able to become more aware of creating appropriate and successful cover letters or a resume. I also have learned to understand the aspects of both informal and formal assignments which have been influenced by professional writing

ENGL 470 (W-intensive, 3 credits) will focus on writing for workplace settings from

A rhetorical perspective. Students will study strategies for effective professional communication, including the basics of copyediting and document design, and produce writing genres commonly found in the professional world (e.g., business, government, and media). 1) analyze and produce writing genres according to the rhetorical situation of workplace contexts;

2) create professional documents that use plain English principles (to targeted audience);

3) conduct research to create content for a variety of professional documents (memos, letters, reports, etc.);

4) create professional documents that use design principles;
