The proposal (below) was my first exposure to technical writing. Here is where I was taught the importance of specifying to a particular audience. (I don’t want to spoil the surprise, so I wont mention the topic of the proposal.) Essentially I back my self into a corner, by choosing an overly detailed topic. I wrote my first draft and began to editing. I made it to the end of the first section and had to stop. I realized no sane person would take what I was about to say seriously. So I sought out a second opinion. To summarize, I learned that my proposal sounded like a bill up for debate in congress. I thought about it for a couple of days and decided to play into what I was told. My Audience became, the general adult population. Huh? That is correct, using basic logic and reasoning I interpreted my argument to be surreal enough to justify it’s broad audience. Take a look!
