The term “community” always makes me think. Up until a few years ago, I thought that it strictly applied just to where I lived. As I began experiencing senior year, I realized that clubs and certain classes can be part of your community. My perception of community changed even more once I became part of the Cormier Honors College. I gained many peers with similar interests as me, and as I got to know people through the honors retreat and throughout freshman year, I realized that community doesn’t even apply to people you know. Community is what you make out of it. Coming home so early made me realize how quickly Longwood became my home. Being able to support one another, grow together, and make the world a better place is my current perception of community, but I’m always open to change and Longwood has helped me become more comfortable with those around me.
