As an active member in the Longwood University community I currently study to become an Elementary School teacher, hopefully for grades k-3.
Obviously children interest me, but it doesn’t stop there. Even more, people interest me. When you work with children, you never just work with children. You get a look into their life as a whole and work with students’ families and learn about why the child acts the way they do, why their learning abilities are advanced or under-developed, etc.
As a member of my local community of Northern Virginia I am a preschool teacher both in a regular classroom and in a music classroom. I help children discover new things in learning through music, art, and literature every day.
The Internet certainly helps me stay creative and inspired by having an account with Pinterest and TeachersPayTeachers. These mediums of technology give me easy, quick ideas to do with children that I would never think of on my own such as art projects, science experiments, and book activities that are affordable. As a teacher, it is important to understand your personal life on the Internet, especially social media, should be kept professional. Educators should always remain role models for young people at all times inside and outside of the school environment.
