The Rotunda

All of the following articles are published over my four years with The Rotunda. I have worked from being News Staff, Assistant News Editor, News Editor to now Editor-in-Chief. Now as Editor-in-Chief I have gained leadership skills and have learned how to lead a team. Before I was part of the team and now I consider myself the coach of the 37 person team.

This is an online publication of my piece about the Student Government Association at Longwood and how they were in a financially difficult situation and how all of campus was effected I wrote my sophomore year as the News Editor.

After a tip from social media about breaking news happening at the local Walmart, I went live on the scene to describe the situation. Following up with this article, I was able to answer a lot of questions about the alleged situation.

A sensitive topic in today’s society with racism and freedom of speech, white nationalist postings were found on Longwood’s campus in areas out of sight of security cameras. This story is a follow up almost a year later as now Editor-in-Chief, where the same white nationalist group resurfaced on Longwood’s campus last year.

As an update with the white nationalist postings that were on campus, there were increases in bias incidents with the Hispanic Latino Association (HLA) and People Respecting Individuality, Diversity, and Equality (PRIDE). Both HLA and PRIDE are minority organizations on campus. I wrote this article during my tenure as Editor-in-Chief of The Rotunda.
