{"id":1257,"date":"2017-03-31T14:10:59","date_gmt":"2017-03-31T19:10:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.longwood.edu\/ccfnn\/?p=1257"},"modified":"2018-02-21T22:23:29","modified_gmt":"2018-02-22T03:23:29","slug":"heather-lettner-rust-and-elif-guler-at-the-2017-conference-on-college-composition-and-communication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.longwood.edu\/ccfnn\/2017\/03\/31\/heather-lettner-rust-and-elif-guler-at-the-2017-conference-on-college-composition-and-communication\/","title":{"rendered":"Heather Lettner Rust and Elif Guler at the 2017 Conference on College Composition and Communication"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Drs. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.longwood.edu\/longwoodcafe\/faculty-consultants\/written-communication\/\">Heather <\/a>Lettner-Rust and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elifguler.com\/\">Elif Guler<\/a> of the Rhetoric and Professional Writing Program at Longwood recently presented their research at the 2017 Conference on College Composition Communication (CCCC), which took place from March 15-18 in Portland, Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Lettner-Rust (Composition Coordinator) collaborated with Dr. James Holsinger (Director of the Writing Center) in facilitating a workshop with faculty from other universities entitled, &#8220;Cultivating Consensus Among Teachers: Collaborative Leadership Strategies in Writing Program Administration.&#8221; Dr. Lettner-Rust also presented a paper entitled, &#8220;Writing our Students into the Right Places: Social Activism as the Curriculum&#8221; in the panel, \u201cCultivating Social Activism in the Classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Guler (Coordinator of Rhetoric and Professional Writing) presented her paper entitled, \u201cRhetoric as the Study of Finding Happiness,\u201d in the panel, \u201cSearching for Global Rhetorics, Recovering Alternative Discursive Communities.\u201d The cross-national panel included scholars from Canada, Turkey, and Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1949, CCCC has been the world&#8217;s largest professional organization for researching and teaching composition, from writing to new media.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.longwood.edu\/ccfnn\/files\/2017\/03\/cccc2017.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1258 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.longwood.edu\/ccfnn\/files\/2017\/03\/cccc2017-300x55.jpg\" alt=\"cccc2017\" width=\"458\" height=\"84\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.longwood.edu\/ccfnn\/files\/2017\/03\/cccc2017-300x55.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.longwood.edu\/ccfnn\/files\/2017\/03\/cccc2017.jpg 545w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 458px) 100vw, 458px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Drs.
