HON Hist 222: US History 1877-Modern Times
I really enjoyed this history class. In high school, I really did not like history classes, but this class changed my view on history. The way we discussed the modern repercussions of historical events gave me a new insight. I learned a lot about many historical events that had only ever been briefly touched on in high school. I also was able to hear about completely new aspects of history. This class taught me a great amount about the United States and how history has shaped the way we live today.
This course also taught me to more effectively actively read historical documents. We did a lot of reading assignments for this class and we had to submit the readings annotated and with what is called a “description paragraph” every day before class. This allowed me to refine my active reading skills and more effectively annotate documents.
I have chosen to include one of these annotated readings that I mentioned above. The document is a set of letters written to President FDR and his wife. The writing in red is my annotation.
