Engl 378: Law, Literature, and Difference
This class was one of the best I have taken so far. It was a lot of reading, but I absolutely loved everything we read. Dr. Goldberg is such an incredible professor and is so passionate about these subjects, which made the class really come to life. This course taught me so much about society and how to approach and deal with the injustice that is present today. We also delved into the subject of slavery the perpetuation of racism in our culture. It was an eye-opening class and has given me lessons that will affect the way I live the rest of my life.
I have chosen to include my RRP (Reading Response Paper) from this class. This paper was a writing assignment on a section of reading we were assigned for the semester. I chose to do mine on chapter 1 of Saidiya Hartman’s Scenes of Subjection. In the assignment, we were asked to respond to our chapter(s) and give a reflection of what we learned from them and our overall feelings on the reading.
