History 222

History 222 explored different problems in the United States post Civil War. More importantly, how these problems effected individuals who were living in the United States as well as how it even effects us today. This course required a lot of application of knowledge rather than memorization of dates and facts which proved to be a lot more effective for me. I learned more in this course than I have in any other history class I have taken in the past. History 222 taught me the importance of finding connections between text/literature, history, and real life events and how to properly do so. We did this through primary sources and other articles from our textbooks.  The artifact attached was my final project for this course. It is a Buzzfeed article set up that goes through different minority groups that experienced oppression by the United States during the time period studied.
