ASL 210

I was very excited to take a second semester of ASL because I believe it will be very beneficial to my future career as a Speech-Language Pathology. In this course, we spent most of the semester practicing spontaneous conversations. This type of emersion was very helpful. It taught me how to quickly retrieve signs as well as find alternative signs for signs that I did not know. We also often discussed the difference between ASL and signed American English. Signed American English takes significantly more time to complete than ASL. ASL takes half the time making it an easier form of communication. We also discussed a lot about advocacy in the Deaf community. I, as a hearing individual, should respect and make an effort to assist those who are deaf and hard of hearing. The assignment below is a comparison between ASL and Signed American English.
