While I am entering my senior year of nursing school, I feel as though this past year has been the first year where I have truly gotten the chance to grow into myself professionally. I have gotten the chance multiple times now to administer flu and Covid-19 vaccines to people within the Farmville and Lynchburg communities. These experiences where I was able to administer these life-saving vaccines were amazing and left me at a loss for words. For one of the first times in my life I was able to visibly see someone gain something from my knowledge and clinical skills. Experiences such as these have helped in reminding me why I wanted to be a nurse when I was a little girl, and why I still want to be a nurse now.
While I believe that I still have a lot of room to grow professionally within the next year before I graduate, I am excited for this summer, as I have the opportunity to work in Lynchburg as an extern on an orthopedic unit. I am so excited to see where this opportunity leads me in my personal professional development.
