Honors 361

The Problem of Evil satisfied my Behavioral and Social perspective and it has been my favorite course that I have taken at Longwood by far! Throughout the course we discussed the primary question surrounding the problem of evil: If God is all powerful, all knowing, and all good, then why does so much evil exist in the world? We read and discussed in detail arguments against the existence of God based on the existence of evil as well as responses to them. Later on in the course we applied the arguments to works of literature as well as in film.

We read many literary works by C.S. Lewis as well as writings from Hud Hudson and David Bentley Hart. I was particularly interested in a work titled A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis where he reflects on his struggle to maintain his relationship with God after the tragic death of his wife. I was able to relate to the loss that Lewis experienced and appreciate his journey to loving God more than with any other literary piece. I have since read the book over again and plan to again in the future.

Attached below is a dialogue that I created with my classmates Kylie Gannon and Ariel Birkholz. We were tasked with creating a dialogue that discussed the problem of evil with characters who were in disagreement with one another. We had a lot of fun creating our dialogue and enjoyed discussing various viewpoints on the problem of evil. We decided to add a comedic twist onto the dialogue so I hope you enjoy!
