The community at Longwood is what drew me to the university above all. When I came to visit my sister at Longwood, her friends all welcomed me with open arms. I felt that same sense of welcome at my orientation and every day after. Because our school is so small, faces become very familiar. I feel that people who come to Longwood are the type of people to appreciate a smaller community which allows us to create closer bonds.

In addition to seeing familiar faces while walking around campus, so many people at Longwood are involved in other clubs and organizations. So many different groups become intertwined in a whole new way which brings us even closer. I, for example, play on the club lacrosse team which has women from various greek organization, a volunteer fire fighter, SGA members, members of other sports teams, and so much more. Through my teammates I have learned about countless new ways to become more involved in our community, and that’s the beauty of a small school.
