Begin Language & Culture

In this pillar’s requirement course, we established a foundation of basic signs and understanding of deaf culture. First, we learned the alphabet. Then, we went through vocabulary lists and occasionally took quizzes on the signs we had learned. Over the course of the semester, we watched a few videos about deaf culture that were followed by a Q & A session on any resulting questions. My favorite part of this class was attending a Parent Child Advocacy event.
