Spanish 202
Fulfilled: Goal 10
Spanish 202 was the first Spanish course I had taken since my Spanish four class as a sophomore in high school. More than simply improving my language skills this class helped me to begin my path towards a Spanish Minor and an expanded understanding of various cultures. The class has inspired my study abroad experience to Argentina and assisted me in becoming more culturally aware. I now look not only to my own experience, but also to others’ beliefs and points of view. It has given me the ability to think critically about my own culture and the world around me. I have also gained the confidence to approach a situation with sensitivity to those around me and respectfully communicate with people of different backgrounds. I believe this class has truly unveiled a whole world of possibilities.
Below is one example of a project in which I blended the Spanish language with my own experience to create a whole new product. The following is an extra scene that was to be added to a short film which parodied several different movies in the context of a barber’s shop. Such films referenced included, Star Wars, The Matrix, and Lord of the Rings. My scene is based on Star Trek.
La Barbaria by Taylor Bauer created November 15th 2016. The following script is an alternative addition to a short film in Spanish. The piece demonstrates an increasing mastery of the Spanish language in connection with pop-culture.
