I took Biology 114: Biology for the Teaching Profession with my academic advisor, Dr. Ben Campbell. This class was truly one of my favorites! This class doubled as a Pillar requirement as well as a Liberal Studies major requirement.

My favorite component of this class was our major project, completed toward the latter part of the semester. First, we were individually assigned VA Science SOL topics to develop and record ourselves introducing a lesson as if we were about to teach the SOL to our own class of students. Later on, we were assigned to small groups of 2-4 people to develop a full length (75 minute) lesson plan of a 3^rdor 4^thgrade Science SOL standard, which we ultimately taught to small groups of 3^rdgraders from a local elementary school – SUCH a valuable experience and amazing hands-on opportunity for teaching practice!
