Community

Longwood has given me multiple communities to immerse myself in and explore my personal talents as well as find myself through connections with others.

The Honors College exposed me to so many people as soon as I got to school; I was able to find peers with similar interests or in the same major/classes, with the majority of them living just down the hall from me.

As a member of the Longwood Company of Dancers, I have invested myself in an arts-based community where I have found people with whom I can share my creativity and humanity with. The dance world is unique in itself, and I have expanded my connections in the community by being part of this organization. By holding a leadership position, I have also been given the opportunity to shape the future of this small community and to challenge myself further with behind-the-scenes exec responsibilites.

Finally, I have found a third community through my involvement in my sorority. I have made connections with women that have allowed me to expand my social circle and have networking opportunities in many other areas/fields, that have introduced me to many other opportunities, organizations, and resources on campus, and that share my passions and values as well as encourage me as a woman and scholar by promoting personal growth.
